Activities

Our primary activity will be to grow our relationship with our global neighbors - learning about their culture; experiencing daily life with them; and hearing their struggles, hopes, and dreams. We will also engage with them in holding an annual music camp for kids and supporting other various projects in the community (yet to be determined). Some possibilities for other activities: participate in a story exchange with local women, cooking together, repair local schools, visit micro-enterprises, art projects with children, computer classes for youth and much more! And, of course, there will be time for a bit of sightseeing!

Participants should be in good health, able to walk at least ¼ mile, and must be pre-approved by the trip organizer.

Accommodations

We will spend the nights in modest hotels and at the Casa de Paz retreat house in Chacraseca. Participants will also have the opportunity to spend one night with a family. We will eat “tipico” Nicaraguan food (mostly rice and beans) prepared by the community.

Travelers will be limited to one carry-on suitcase per person for the trip — it’s a chance to see what we can do without!

Costs

The trip fee is $825 per person. This covers lodging, meals, in-country transportation, interpreter expenses, and trip coordination and leadership. Other personal costs include:

• airfare to Managua, Nicaragua
• medical evacuation (medevac) insurance (about $20-$50 per person, depending on age)
• meals en route to and from Nicaragua
• $10 entry visa
• souvenirs and any unscheduled activities/meals the team decides to add

If a minimum number of eight participants is not reached, the trip fee per person may need to increase to cover JustHope's fixed costs. We have limited space for this adventure.

Travel Arrangements

Please note that the exact dates of this trip are in flux, but will be within a few days. Please confirm with the trip leader, Lynne Bradley, before purchasing your plane tickets.

Participants book their own flights, either individually or as a group. Participants must arrive in Managua by 3pm on the first day of the trip.

Deadlines

March 10: Online registration and deposit due.
April 10: Full payment, passport copy, medevac insurance confirmation, flight itinerary, and any other outstanding information are all due. See this page for more information.
